When design meets history, the outcome can be absolutely amazing. This is certainly the case for this 14th century Palazzo delle Palme with a real symbiosis as result.
The spacious floor plan of on three levels offers a high level of living comfort, bright rooms, several terraces and access to both a garden with pool, as well as the central square of the village. With a southern orientation, both Palazzo delle Palme and the garden enjoy a lot of sunshine and the unobstructed location offers wonderful views over the Umbrian landscape. During the renovation, which was completed in 2016, the building was elaborately gutted, refurbished and adapted to the latest construction standards, considering all the static and seismic conditions as well as the energy requirements. Most impressive, however, are the architectural and decorative elements, which have been created with great taste and attention to detail.
The garden has been laid out in terraces and offers various seating areas, trees, flowerbeds and a small pool, which provides refreshment in the summer.
The picturesque village, which was built in the 12th century as a castle perched on a hill, can only be entered through the original city gate. The town itself offers little infrastructure, but there is a renowned restaurant, next to Palazzo delle Palma, famous for its traditional Umbrian cuisine. The town of San Venanzo with a good infrastructure is only 3 km away.
Palazzo delle Palme is entered through its main entrance on the middle level through a welcoming reception room with fireplace and access to a balcony (with enough space for a table and chairs) from where you can overlook the garden and enjoy the scenery. A guest toilet is also accessible from the reception room. Furthermore, there is a large dining room, again with fireplace, a spacious fully equipped kitchen and a bedroom, currently used as studio.
On the upper level you find a large living room with another fireplace and two bedrooms (one with cloakroom), each with its own bathroom.
On the garden level, which can be reached from the dining room via an internal staircase, there are also two other entrances, one from the village central square and one from the garden. Here is the oldest part of the building (14th century) with wonderful arches and vaulted terracotta ceilings, several niches and an antique (working) bread and pizza oven. A spacious utility room contains the house technology and a laundry room. The middle spacious main room can be used as home theatre, games room or whatever. Another room, used as bedroom, a bathroom and a small kitchenette complete this level.
