TIP FOR BON-VIVANTS : VILLA PAMBUFFETTI, MONTEFALCO
Nobody who likes his wines will leave out the medieval town of Montefalco on a trip to Umbria. Sure enough, this region produces some of the finest wines of Umbria, even Italy – especially the famous Sagrantino di Montefalco . So a dash into the local wine museum is a must to be followed by an excursion into one of the many Enotecas . But after so much “ wineseeing ” there are even more cultural discoveries that beg for attention (perhaps best enjoyed after a good night's rest to overcome the fatigue that comes with the spirit of Montefalco ...)
An ideal oasis for creative muse is quite nearby and was once a favourite hideout of Gabriele d'Annunzio : a few hundred meters beyond the old walls of Montefalco a shady park harbours the stately Villa Pambuffetti , an enchanting family hotel that is old-fashioned in a turn-of-the century style.
There are not many places that extend such a warm welcome as does charming Signora Pambuffetti . And welcoming is also the gourmet restaurant, run by her daughter Alessandra. Its intimate interior and wonderful dishes are a feast even for gourmets!
A relaxing break, e.g. at the poolside, will prepare splendidly for an aperitif, served in the romantic garden (summer) or in front of the fireplace (winter). Thus spirited, one can stride towards the evening's highlight: a sumptuous dinner at the fine Villa Pambuffetti restaurant. A closer look at the wine card is a must, and sommelier Mauro will provide excellent advice. And the menu itself delights with special creations and balanced selection of temptations!
And yet, chef Alessandra does not veil her art in secrecy. All those interested in the secrets of gourmet Italian cooking can learn from her in inspiring cooking classes. And some of those inmost delights have been revealed by her in a cookbook - “Umbrian Secrets”, one of which you will find in the download section!
